New Park Rules

South Ogden City has many wonderful parks and we're hoping to make them safe and enjoyable. In order to do that we've created some park rules that we will have posted at each park. Click the link below and you will be able to access those rules.

Park Rules

You'll notice that we have different rules for 40th Street Park and Friendship Park. The reason for that is that we don't allow any dogs, on or off leash, at those two parks. The rest of the parks in South Ogden allow dogs, but only if they are on a leash. South Ogden City has explored the possibility of creating a dog park, but it's still in the formitive stages.

You might also notice that we have rules for our tennis courts. We have just built new tennis courts at the 40th Street Park to add to the courts at Friendship Parks. We generally don't have to worry about people waiting to use the courts, but this summer we had quite a few people use the courts at 40th Street Park.

The Park Rules also include rules regarding the new Splash Pad. The new Splash Pad is at the South Ogden Nature Park (5874 S. 1175 E.) which opened last fall. The Splash Pad will be free of charge and we expect that it will have heavy use. We welcome all to come and try it out. We're excited to get it up and running starting on Memorial Day of 2008.

South Ogden City Workcamps

Group Workcamps are intensive one-week programs that help young people grow in spiritual faith through service to others. Approximately 450 youth and adult leaders from around the country will spend one week in our community- June 15-21, 2008.

They will be performing hands-in-home-repair projects for up to 70 low-income, elderly, disabled, and single parent families. The work at each home will be done by a team of 5 young people and at least one adult leader, assisted by staff professionally experienced in home repair.

Eligible repair projects will include: exterior painting, interior painting, porch or steps repaired or rebuilt, weatherization, or wheelchair ramps constructed or repaired.

This is for low-income residents of South Ogden City who own their own homes and are senior citizens, have a disabled person in the household, or are single moms with children in the home under the age of 18.

All applicants must be residents of Ogden or South Ogden Cities. Homes are selected on a first come, first serve basis. If you are someone who qualifies or you know someone who qualifies there are applications at City Hall located at 3950 Adams Avenue Ste. 1. If you have any questions please contact Ryan Harvey at 622-2726 or email him at rharvey@southogdencity.com

South Ogden City Employee of the Year

Marci Edwards has been selected as the 2007 Employee of the Year for South Ogden City. Marci works in the Public Safety Department as a Special Functions Officer. She wears many hats as far as responsibilities are concerned, but has proven to be proficient in all her job duties.

Each year South Ogden employees are allowed to nominate a fellow employee for Employee of the Year. Once we've received all the nominees then a panel consisting of the Mayor, City Council, City Manager, and Department Heads vote on who they think the Employee of the Year should be. The employee chosen is then honored at the city's year-end holiday banquet.

Fortunately South Ogden City has alot of employees that we can be proud of. These employees give alot of effort to help the operations of the city run smoothly. They take pride in providing services to people and to assist citizens as needed. Most of the time the accomplishments of individuals don't make the "headlines", but it's all the little things that are accomplished that make the city run as well as it does.

Thanks to the employees of South Ogden City and congratulations to Marci Edwards on being chosen as the 2007 Employee of the Year.

Welcome to the City Manager's Blog

We're up and running now. I hope that citizens of South Ogden will have an opportunity to come and visit the blog to gain some useful information. Some of the information might be unique, but most of it will be notifying people of upcoming events or happenings at the city. This blog will be similar to the newsletter in a way. The idea is that maybe we'll catch a little different audience with the blog.

I'm open to comments, criticisms or suggestions. Let us know what we can do better as a city. We are constantly striving to meet the needs of the citizens and we want South Ogden City to continue being a great place to live.

You won't be able to post comments, but you can send me an email at southogdencity@gmail.com if you have any particular feedback.
